Sharing reports is effortless, and the Dara can automatically recognize up to eight users, too. For some users, it's helpful to share their stats for accountability reasons or to boost their motivation. For others, it's about keeping an eye on the health of the people around them; family members, clients, workout partners, etc. Regardless, that's a LOT of data.
All of the information that you can monitor in the FitTrack app is valuable, but some metrics might carry more weight depending on your goals. That's why we're publishing a series of articles that review specific metrics you can follow with FitTrack products and why they're essential for particular people. This time, we're looking at the metrics that are important for moms!
To begin with, we'll discuss how our exclusive Infant Mode uses dual BIA technology to bring you valuable body composition insights about your baby. This setting is designed specifically to help new mothers keep an eye on their child's growth and development during their critical early stages.
Infant Mode Explained
Infant Mode is a feature that lets mothers use the FitTrack Dara with their children to generate a body composition scan for their baby. Follow the instructions in the FitTrack app to create your report first, then your child's. Our algorithm takes care of the rest and knows how to separate the composition data to provide accurate results!
Here are three metrics you'll probably be most interested in:
- Body Fat %: We might struggle to drop our baby fat as we get older. But baby's are chubby for a reason. Newborn children have the highest body fat % of any other species on Earth because it plays an incredibly important role in the development of infants. Baby fat provides a much-needed reserve of energy to fuel physical and mental development. Did you know that a child's brain accounts for 50-60% of its energy consumption? As a general rule of thumb, expect your baby's fat to peak around 25% between 4 and 9 months of age, before beginning to decline slowly.
- Protein Rate: The amount of protein in a baby's system is a helpful indicator because protein is essential for the building and maintaining of organs, muscle, and tissue. Your little one is going through one of the most critical growth phases of his or her life, so you can monitor their protein rate in the FitTrack app to ensure their levels are standard. For the first six months, your baby should get all the protein he or she needs from breast milk or formula, depending on your preference.
- Bone Mass: As you probably already know by now, growth is the name of the game when it comes to the first stages of your child's life. If you want to make sure they have a solid foundation to build upon, you'll likely want to monitor their bone mass. FitTrack calculates the mineral content in a specific volume of bone so that you can make sure your child grows to be a healthy and strong individual!
New moms can use Infant Mode to monitor these three metrics to get a better understanding of their child's health and development. But that doesn't mean you should ignore the 14 other key health indicators in your FitTrack report. Hydration is valuable to know as well, and so is standard weight so that you make sure, overall, your child is growing at a healthy pace. Always consult with your doctor and maintain regular visits and checkups to be sure, though!
